2D VOLUME LASHES

by Illuminate INK

Double the dimension. Softly textured, visibly fuller.

Ready for a little more impact? The 2D Volume Set introduces the art of volume lashes. In this technique, a fan consisting of two ultra-thin (0.05–0.07mm) extensions is applied to each natural lash . Because the individual lashes are so lightweight, adding two creates fullness without weight or stress on your natural lashes .

This set provides a softer, feathery texture compared to Classics, adding depth and a whisper of glamour while maintaining a look that’s appropriate for both day and night . It’s the perfect bridge between natural and dramatic.

Best for: Clients who want more fullness than Classics but prefer a look that’s still soft and wearable.

Contraindications

Is This Service Right for You?

Your safety and comfort are our highest priorities.

To ensure a safe and beautiful experience, please review the following conditions before booking your lash extension appointment. If any of these apply to you, please contact us to discuss your options—some conditions may require a doctor’s clearance or may be temporary, meaning we can reschedule your appointment.

Conditions Where Lash Extensions Are NOT Recommended

  • Active Eye Infections or Inflammation: Including conjunctivitis (pink eye), styes (hordeolum), or blepharitis. We must wait until the infection has completely cleared to prevent further irritation or spread of bacteria .

  • Recent Eye Surgery: Including cataract, LASIK, or any other ophthalmic procedure. You must wait for full healing and receive clearance from your doctor. This typically takes several weeks to months.

  • Known Allergies to Adhesive Components: If you have a known sensitivity or previous allergic reaction to latex, cyanoacrylates (the main ingredient in lash glue), or formaldehyde, extensions are not advisable . Symptoms can include eyelid swelling, redness, itching, and discomfort .

  • Active Chemotherapy: Some cancer treatments can cause extreme sensitivity. A doctor’s note is required.

Conditions Requiring Special Consideration or a Patch Test

  • Very Sensitive Skin or Eyes: Clients with a history of sensitive skin or conditions like eczema on the eyelids may be at higher risk for irritation. We highly recommend a patch test 24–48 hours prior to your full set to check for any reaction .

  • Autoimmune Disorders: Conditions like Sjögren’s syndrome or severe allergies may affect healing and retention. Please discuss this with your lash artist during your consultation.

  • Trichotillomania (Hair-Pulling Disorder): While lash extensions can sometimes be used to help disguise hair loss, it is crucial to have a detailed consultation to ensure the extensions will not cause further stress to the hair follicles .

Temporary Contraindications (We Can Reschedule!)

  • Watery or Irritated Eyes from Allergies (Seasonal/Environmental): If your eyes are actively red, swollen, or watery due to a temporary allergy flare-up, it’s best to wait. The excessive moisture will prevent the adhesive from bonding correctly and can worsen irritation.

  • Recent Eye Irritation from Makeup or Other Products: Give your eyes time to calm down before your appointment.

Your consultation is the most important step. We will always discuss your medical history, assess your natural lash health, and recommend the safest, most beautiful style for you

Questions?

READ F.A.Q.

“2D” stands for two dimensions, meaning a fan consisting of two ultra-thin (0.05–0.07mm) extensions is applied to each single natural lash . This is the entry point into volume lashes. Unlike the 1:1 ratio of Classics, this technique adds soft fullness and texture while remaining lightweight. The result is more density than Classics but still soft and wearable—perfect for clients who want to “dip their toe” into volume .
No, not when applied correctly. The individual extensions used for volume sets are much thinner and lighter than classic extensions . By using two ultra-fine lashes (instead of one thicker one), the total weight is actually distributed evenly and remains comfortable for your natural lashes . Your lash artist will always assess the health of your natural lashes first to ensure they can support the set.
Absolutely. 2D Volume is often described as the perfect “everyday volume” look. It provides more fullness than Classics but stops short of full-on drama, making it ideal for work, school, and daily activities . Clients with naturally sparse or fine lashes particularly love 2D because it fills in gaps while looking beautifully natural .
