Achieve soft, natural-looking eyebrows with our hair stroke technique, also known as nano hair strokes. This method is designed to mimic the natural flow, direction, and texture of real brow hairs by creating fine, hair-like strokes within the skin.
Hair strokes are ideal for clients with finer, more delicate brow hair or those experiencing slight gaps and unevenness, where a subtle enhancement is desired rather than a filled-in makeup effect. The goal is to blend seamlessly with your natural brows and create an effortless, realistic result.
This technique requires the right conditions to heal beautifully. It works best on normal to dry skin with minimal pore visibility and softer hair texture. For clients with oilier skin, larger pores, or very coarse, dense brow hair, we may recommend an alternative technique that will provide a more stable and long-lasting result.
At Illuminate Ink Studio, we focus on selecting the most appropriate technique for each individual client rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. Our artists are trained to evaluate your skin, hair pattern, and desired outcome to ensure the most natural and predictable healed results.
We work with high-quality, safety-tested pigments, including Etalon Mix, known for their clean healing and controlled color evolution over time. Combined with refined technique and attention to detail, this allows us to create results that remain soft, balanced, and natural as they heal.
The hair stroke technique requires the right skin and hair conditions to heal clean and crisp. During your consultation, we carefully assess whether this method is suitable for you.
Hair type & existing brow pattern
Clients with very thick, coarse, or dense brow hair may not be ideal candidates for hair strokes, as the strokes may not blend naturally with the existing hair. In such cases, we may recommend an alternative technique for a more realistic result.
Skin type
Oily, thick, or porous skin may not retain fine strokes well, as they can heal softer or slightly blurred. If needed, we may advise a powder or combination technique for better longevity and stability.
Skin conditions in the treatment area
Eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, acne, rosacea, sunburn, or any irritation in the brow area.
Scarring tendencies
History of keloids, hypertrophic scarring, or abnormal pigmentation during healing.
Medical conditions
Bleeding disorders, hemophilia, use of blood thinners, or conditions that affect healing.
Autoimmune conditions
Any condition that may compromise skin regeneration and healing results.
Pregnancy & nursing
We recommend postponing the procedure during this time.
Medications
Use of Accutane within the past 6–12 months.
Allergies
Known allergies to pigments or topical anesthetics.
Recent cosmetic procedures
Botox or fillers in the brow/forehead area require a minimum 2–3 week gap before or after the procedure.
Infections
Any active viral, bacterial, or fungal infection in the treatment area.
Oncology treatments
Clients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation must wait until treatment is completed and provide medical clearance.
Each case is unique, and if hair strokes are not the best option, we will always recommend a more suitable technique to ensure the most natural and long-lasting result.
